The panoramic vistas  are legendary.  They span from New Hampshire to Canada. The vast blue waters of Mooshead Lake stretch out before you, the sky is huge and the colors are rich.

15 mature acres,  each overlooking Moosehead Lake, are wonderful to explore!  There are manicured lawns & flower gardens, fields & woodlands, herb & vegetable gardens.   A welcoming fountain adorns the porte cochiere, a sparkling trout pond is tucked by the edge of the woods and winding stone pathways invite you to wander.

The entryway and dramatic winding staircase is adorned with beautiful, original stained glass windows and a huge stone fireplace and hearth.

Pocket doors draw you into the spacious and elegant living room with its high, coved ceiling and impressive fireplace flanked by French doors.  It is perfectly appointed with an antique armoire, baby grand piano, mahogany secretary desk and lush sitting chairs.  But the nearly floor-to-ceiling windows that display the lake and mountain views before you define the awe of this room.   

 

The dining room  where intimate tables are set with style is equally magnificent.  The colors of the room play off of the original chandelier & sconces which glow in soft greens & golds.  The architectural details set the stage with a high-coved ceiling, french doors, rich wood paneling and a warm wood burning fireplace.  But again, the view takes center stage as nearly an entire wall is filled with scenes of water, mountains and sky!

The cocktail bar is a handsome and sumptuous place to unwind.  It boasts a stately bar and comfy seating groups surrounded by huge windows that feature nature's magnificence.  This is the perfect place to enjoy a glass of fine wine or relax with a good book or a game of chess.  Rich fabrics, warm colors, a large screen HD plasma TV, and the innkeeper's favorite photograph of Jerry Garcia make this room truly special.

From the bar step outside to Blair Hill Inn's 'peice de resistance' the verandah.  90 feet of pristine, classic porch extends the entire length of the inn.  Set with comfy cushioned wicker chairs, a traditional porch swing & brightly colored flowers the verandah sets you high above the lawns and treetops below.  Facing to the west, Moosehead Lake is spread out before you and serves up sunsets that have inspired spontaneous applause!  The lake breeze is refreshing, fireflies twinkle at dusk and the smell of Maine's tall pines is in the air. 

The breakfast porch is an absolute delight.  Bright & lovely, individual tables are set with china, silver, and flowers snipped from the inn's gardens.  Freshly ground coffee awaits you early each morning followed by a delectible full breakfast.  In the afternoon, return for a glass of iced tea with just picked mint leaves or a cup of English tea!  

The magnificent balcony, that extends the eastern length of the inn off of the third floow is stunning.  As the sun peaks up over Blair Hill's ridgeline it  splashes the first morning light onto the balcony.  Chaise lounge chairs invite you to sit here each morning and soak in the sun while gazing the near entirety of Moosehead Lake.  

The 1891 Carriage Barn is an impressive 8,000 square foot structure that is home to our sweet Quarter Horse.  It also provides the coolsest setting for in-door concerts as well as wedding receptions. 

The hillside beyond is yours to explore.  Blair Hill Inn sits commandingly front and center of 'Blair Hill' aptly named after Mr. Lyman Blair the original creator of the estate and farm.  Perfectly situated upon the hillside, Mr. Blair took full advantage of the vast views engulfing his estate.  While you are here may we suggest a hike to the top of Blair Hill for solitude and exhilaration.  Our resident guide dog, Bell, will escort you to the top and back making sure that you are not far behind as they lead the way.  Sorry, a walk with our 'Golden Girl' ensures a final stop at our pond for a quick swim!
