Wedding season is upon us!
Mon, Apr 15th, 2013 7:21:00 am

Blair Hill Inn is such a magical spot for weddings or simply a relaxing getaway.  Here is a new photo taken of a bride and groom last summer.  Come have a romantic photo like this yourselves, whether you are a bride and groom or just a couple looking for a memory of a lifetime.

August brings such bounty from our Blair Hill Gardens
Wed, Aug 15th, 2012 8:14:00 am

I love walking into our kitchen as our Chef and Sous Chef are busy preparing the weekend's menu only to see bins of fresh produce from our gardens.  These beets, picked today, will be used for our soup course of 'Garden Beet & Carrot Purees with Creme Fraiche'.   Delicious!

Clearly working!
Thu, Aug 2nd, 2012 2:49:00 am

On Saturday, July 28th, Alissa and Michael were married under stunning Moosehead Lake skies after rains cleared out in plenty of time for thieir outdoor ceremony.  We are awaiting photos to post.  However, here are a few photos of some of our amazing wait staff and guest chef who make these special occassions perfect!  We work hard together but we also have fun and that's one of the best things about Blair Hill Inn.   Just last week, someone staying with us commented on how nice, warm and friendly each and every person they had encountered here was and how much we all seemed to have fun working together.  We get these comments a lot and it does make a HUGE difference in our guests stay. Each of our staff from housekeepers, to waitresses/bartenders, to groundskeepers live in the Greenville area and have been with us for years.  This authenticates your experience at Blair Hill and we not only keep things local we get to have the best of the best!  Thanks everyone!

Congratulations Jane and Patrick!

Congratulations Cassie & Rowan!
Mon, Apr 30th, 2012 3:46:00 am

Saturday, April 28th, with all its tumultuous weather turned out to be a glorious day for Cassie and Rowan's wedding. Begining with a delightful bridal party luncheon to the ceremony and then reception, Blair Hill Inn was proud to be the setting for such a special day for such a special couple.

The Ice is Out on Moosehead Lake!
Wed, Apr 18th, 2012 3:14:00 am

Watching the ice recede on the lake is something we have enjoyed for years.  In the early winter the lake starts to freeze over from the south to the north.  Then, in the spring it recedes from the north to the south.  With the vistas we have from the inn we can watch it happening before our eyes.  Each year a date is declared as the official 'Ice Out' date and this year that day was April 16th, the second earliest date in history!  So, here at Moosehead Lake Spring has officially sprung

Just another beautiful day here on Blair Hill!

Wish you were here...
Mon, Nov 7th, 2011 1:25:00 pm

What an exceptional November we are having here at Moosehead Lake.  The temperatures are in the 60's with blue skies and sunshine.  This is nearly unheard of in November!  We hope you enjoy some photos taken today as we strolled around the inn.

Breakfast at Blair Hill
Sun, Oct 23rd, 2011 10:22:00 am

Dan has prepared and cooked breakfast each and every morning now for 14 years!  One might think his passion for creating delicious and beautiful hearty breakfasts might have waned...but no!

His gardens team with ingredients that can be picked fresh each morning and incorporated into unique and mouthwatering courses.  Guests frequently grab their cameras to photograph their breakfast plate and continually express their delight.   From homemade muffins and turnovers to his delightful fresh fruit smoothies, blueberry blintzes with lemon curd to organic eggs with just snipped chervil & tomatoes picked from the garden -  sheer morning pleasure.

Our season is nearing an end!
Fri, Oct 14th, 2011 12:05:00 pm

As our season draws to a close the fall colors are hanging on here in Northern Maine.  We are pleased to be full at the inn again this late into October.  Our final dinner menu of the season is among our best..  The homemade Lobster Ravioli in a Sherry Brown Butter Sauce or the Roasted Duck Breast wtih a Toasted Corn Slaw resting on a pool of Red Beet Reduction are enticing appetizers to start with. The wood-fired Atlantic Sword Fish served with two sauces - Arugula Pesto & Tomato Fondue as well as the comforting classic 'Coq au Vin' were my two favorite entrees although the wood grilled Filet Mignon was a big hit as well.  Diners are having a tough time choosing between the Apple Turnover with Homemade Cinnamon Ice Cream and the sumptuous White Chocolate Pot de Creme.  Blair Hill Inn...simply the best!

Blair Hill Inn lauded by tough food critic!
Fri, Oct 14th, 2011 11:59:00 am

Unbenownst to us,  the food editor and critic with the Portland Press Herald dined with us on a busy Saturday evening in September.  A few weeks later her 1/2 page reveiw came out in the Sunday Journal.  Blair Hill Inn was given 4 and 1/2 stars with a supberb write-up.  As phone calls began to come in for both room and dinner reservations we began to learn that a 4 & 1/2 star rating (out of 5) is unheard of for this tough critic.  The finest restaurants of Maine haven't been able to earn that.  We are thrilled to be recognized for our beautiful location, fine decor, excellent service and exquisite cuisine.

Warren Cooke, summer home residents who dine with us regularly, presented us with a beautiful book of photographs he created with scenes from Greenville.  Here are a few that he gave us that were taken from Blair Hill Inn.

Breakfasts to remember!
Wed, Jul 27th, 2011 8:59:00 am

Each morning guests love breakfast at Blair Hill Inn.  This morning after coffee and juice selections were served, a chilled soup of fresh plums and peaches topped with lemon zest and a bit of creme fraiche was presented.  It was light, flavorful and refreshing.  A homemade cranberry and orange muffin accompanied the soup.  The entree of an organic egg frittata with locally made goat cheese & carmelized onion alongside oven-roasted potatoes with truffle oil and homemade sausage was delicious.

"On a recent trip to Moosehead Lake, I had the opportunity to visit Blair Hill.  My father-in-law and I received permission from Dan one early afternoon to wander the grounds and take photographs.  He asked that we pass on any photos we saw fit.  A few are attached, and I hope they are enjoyed  I must mention that we also dined one evening at the Inn.  It was a wonderful experience.  My regards to the chef.  The inn was also a very nice environment--welcoming and beautiful.

Cheers,

Chris Ridgard

Introducing our wonderful waitstaff!
Mon, Jul 11th, 2011 3:56:00 pm

One of the blessings that we count most often is the brilliant people that we are priviledged to work with.  On Saturday evening, our entire waitstaff was here to help with a wedding reception we catered for 142 guests and we couldn't have done such a seamlessly perfect job without them.

Summertime is for weddings!
Mon, Jul 11th, 2011 3:39:00 pm

Congratulations to Meaghan Kennedy and Alex Bender who were married here on Saturday evening.  With over 140 guests, Blair Hill was hopping!  It was a simply gorgeous day with sunshine, cool breezes and a stunning sunset.  Here are a few photos I snapped that

evening of the tent and inn.

Dining at Blair Hill
Wed, Jul 6th, 2011 5:15:00 pm

Our dining season is off to a great start!  Absolutely great food, in a relaxed, casually elegant setting with the most extraordinary views and sunsets - it just doesn't get better.

Dear guests of ours from England refer to our waitstaff as 'The Lovelies'

We aren't the only ones who love to photograph the inn, the grounds and that view!  Guests take more photos than we do.  Here are a few snapped just yesterday by Jack and Carol Huggins of East Peoria, IL.

So many flowers to choose from!
Fri, Jun 10th, 2011 4:58:00 pm

Each and everyday, I spend a great deal of time picking flowers from the grounds to make arrangements that are placed throughout the inn.  Today, was so much fun - there were so many flowers to choose from; Azaleas, Lupine, Lilacs, Paper Whites, Honeysuckle, and some I don't even know!  The grounds are absolutely beautiful right now.  Here are a few simple bouquets I was able to make.  Ruth

Our Blair Hill Mallard's are home again!
Sat, Jun 4th, 2011 5:25:00 pm

Each and every spring, and we've been here now for 14 of them, a charming pair of Mallard ducks spend their spring on our pond by the inn.  Mallard's stay together for life and this pair has had more ducklings that we can remember.  After the ducklings become big enough to fly away, they all leave until the pair returns to mate the next year.  This just proves how romantic Blair Hill Inn really is!  I'm not the best photographer but I captured this photo.  I'll post another one after the ducklings hatch.

Spring has sprung!
Sat, Jun 4th, 2011 4:39:00 pm

It takes awhile for Spring to arrive at Moosehead Lake but the last few days have been glorious.  We couldn't help but walk the grounds and snap some photos from every angle.  The pink and purple phlox are blooming on the front lawn.  We hope you enjoy these!

This is the stone pathway to the side lawn with Milo awaiting the walk.

A view of the inn from the south lawn where you see one of two canons that guard the estate.

Each spring the front lawns burst into a colorful array of white, pink and purple phlox!

We couldn't resist catching this photo from in between the pines, our Golden leading the way.

The stone walls silhouette Blair Hill Inn against the sky.   It is truly something to see!

The north side is also guarded by a canon.  The massive walls serve as beautiful planters.

The stone foundation with its turn-of-the-century arched windows and doorway is gorgeous.

Beautiful Moosehead Lake

Winter restoration projects complete!
Fri, May 27th, 2011 2:04:00 pm

Guest room 7 has been completely restored this winter and boasts a beautiful new bathroom and a new king size bed!  Also, room 8 no has a double vanity sink area (replacing the previous single vanity) with new faucets, light fixtures and acessories.  This tops off room 8's complete restoration from last winter in which we dormered the main room of the suite opening up 3 windows with direct lake view as well as vaulted the ceiling into the attic giving the room such an even roomier, brighter and airy feel.  Previously, we had shared photos of this work in progress.  Now, here it is complete.

Blair Hill Inn features indoor, wood burning grill
Mon, Feb 14th, 2011 10:55:00 am

Nearly 40 people enjoyed a sumptuous Valentine's Dinner with us on Saturday evening.  Using the wood burning, indoor Aztec grill, Chef Jack Neal seared the Chocolate Mole rubbed Petite Filets to perfection.  Chef Neal outdid himself and Sous Chef, Tracy London's rich Flourless Chocolate Cake with White Chocolate Cream and Homemade Mint Chocolate Ice Cream added the crowning touch.

Restoration continues
Mon, Feb 14th, 2011 10:20:00 am

Today, the tile arrived for the new bathroom in Guest Room 7.  It is going to be beautiful.  We have such fun selecting the the various products and finishing touches for each guest room and bath as we go.  No detail is overlooked.   All of the plastering, new crown molding, trimwork, etc. is complete and Dan has primed everything.

Tiling will take a few days and then the new vanity, faucets, mirror, sconces, etc. can be installed and the room will be nearly complete!  We'll keep you posted.  Also, as part of our continual efforts to make Blair Hill Inn as beautiful as it can be - we have upgraded the bathroom in Guest Room 8 by installing a double vanity, new faucets, lighting, etc.  It is not quite complete but here is a photo in progress.  The vanities look great against the new hardwood floor we put in last winter.  We hope that guests staying in our 2-bedroom suite will enjoy the double vanity area!

Romance is in the air!
Sat, Feb 12th, 2011 3:30:00 pm

This evening is our annual Valentine's celebration dinner.  One of my favorite things is having bouquets everywhere.  In the midst of winter, to me, there is nothing sweeter.  Tonight, we have a bouquet of delicious 'Pink Lemonade' meringue cookies to send home with each guest. Dinner is a six-course delight, sure to please, accompanied by complimentary champagne and a wonderful wine list from which to choose.  Soft candlelight, tables set by wood burning fireplaces, and classic, old crooners' love songs set the mood.  We wish you and your someone special a very Happy Valentine's Day!  Dan and Ruth

Blair Hill Inn represents the tourism industry at Governor's Roundtable
Fri, Jan 21st, 2011 5:46:00 pm

Yesterday, I had the privilege of being one of the speakers invited to address our new Governor, Paul LePage at a 'round table' forum on the importance of protecting Maine's environment at the Augusta Civic Center.  A wide array of industry and organization leaders as well as small business owners and others, were invited to speak to Governor LePage to  stress the importance of not going backward in conservation and environmental protection laws and regulations and to assure him that the economic climate can improve, even flourish, while maintaining such protections.

Blair Hill Inn has been actively involved for years with various environmental organizations to help promote and safekeep the natural beauty of Maine.  We know our guests value this with each and every visit.  All we can do... is try.

Here's a photo.  I am the one in the pink scarf!   Ruth

Ongoing construction!
Fri, Jan 21st, 2011 2:20:00 pm

Everyone keeps asking what we are doing at the top peak of the inn.  It looks like we are adding a turret or look-out post!  But no, we have had the main chimney of our four completely rebuilt and lined.  These are the jobs that don't bring much to our guest experience but knowing that we are always keeping every aspect of the inn as perfect as possible and as safe as possible is equally important.

Winter is construction season at Blair Hill
Fri, Jan 21st, 2011 1:51:00 pm

As happens every 'off-season' so much is underway at Blair Hill.  We have gutted to the studs the last room of the 18 rooms of the inn.  Room 7 is this year's project (Room 8 was last year's).  New wiring, plumbing, sound proof insullation, windows and bath are all underway.  The tile, vanity and fixtures for the new bath have been ordered and are stunning!  We are upgrading to a new King size bed and again the new linens, fixtures, curtains, lamps and carpeting will make this room simply sumptous and with some of the best lakeviews of all!

Christmas cookies at the inn!
Thu, Dec 23rd, 2010 2:16:00 pm

Beside the smell of pine from the tree, there is no better smell than baking Christmas cookies.  These are just a few treats prepared with friends and then given to many people throughout our community-

Merry Christmas!
Mon, Dec 20th, 2010 1:15:00 pm

Merry Christmas to all of our guests who make our lives such a joy.  We receive so many cards and letters and even gifts at this time of year from dear guests and we feel overwhelmed by it all.  Thank you is an insignificant phrase to express how we feel.  We hope you enjoy these photos with glimpses of our holiday trimmings (even though my photography skills leave much to be desired!)

It's official!
Mon, Nov 29th, 2010 4:03:00 pm

Blair Hill Inn is officially listed with AAA as a 4 diamond property!  The official letter has arrived and reads as follows:

"We are proud to acknowledge the Blair Hill Inn as one of North America's select accomodations.  Less than four percent of over 31,000 properties Approved by AAA achieve this prestigious distinction!  Congratulations to the entire staff of Blair Hill Inn."  Perhaps we should have applied for a rating years ago!

Halloween brings snow to Moosehead Lake!

Pumpkins from our gardens!
Fri, Oct 15th, 2010 4:39:00 pm

There is nothing better than stepping out to the beautiful gardens and picking fresh produce on a crisp fall day.  The little pumpkins are lovely so we have placed one in each room and at each table.  Here is a basket just brought in and yet to be washed!

Wedding photographs from Emily Mitchell and Bill Rafuse wedding
Thu, Sep 30th, 2010 3:57:00 pm

Steven Fairfield Photography - one of Maine's premiere wedding photographer sent us a link to his blog with photographs from our most recent 'big' wedding.  In his email to us he states:

"I recently photographed Emily and Bills' elegant wedding Saturday the 18th.  Let me start off by saying that the Blair Hill Inn was easily my favorite wedding venue this year.  From the breathtaking views of Mooshead to the beautiful interior design of the Inn, it was truly an honor to shoot there."

Southwest Airlines to feature Blair Hill Inn
Thu, Sep 30th, 2010 3:35:00 pm

Southwest Airlines just announced that they will begin flights into Portland, Maine!  This opens up a wider array of options for guests to visit Maine and especially Moosehead Lake.  Even more thrilling to us is that the Editor of Southwest Airline's inflight magazine made a tour of Maine this summer looking for a few special places to feature in the magazine as the new destination is announced and...we were chosen as one of the perfect locations to present in the magazine!

Emily Mitchell and Bill Rafuse marry at Blair Hill Inn
Mon, Sep 20th, 2010 4:05:00 pm

On Saturday, September 18th, Emily Mitchell and Bill Rafuse were married atop Blair Hill with 150 of their closest friends and family.  Emily is the daughter of  Maine's Democratic Gubernatorial candidate.  The wedding was magical!  See the NY Times wedding article at: www.nytimes.com/2010/09/19/fashion/weddings/19MITCHELL.html?_r=1

Original stone posts marking the entrance to Blair Hill Inn create a grand welcome!
Sun, Sep 5th, 2010 4:01:00 pm

One very special feature of Blair Hill Inn are the two stone posts with wrought iron lanterns that light the entrance to our long, winding driveway.  Here is a photo of one of them.

Guests awoke to the beauty of a rainbow!
Sun, Aug 29th, 2010 12:59:00 am

Thank you to our guest, Lisa Dunn, who captured this photo of the spectacular rainbow that followed a quick morning rainburst just a few days ago.  The beauty here never ceases to astound everyone who gets to stay with us.

Blair Hill Inn to become an AAA - four diamond property
Mon, Aug 2nd, 2010 4:31:00 pm

It only took us 13 years to apply for an AAA inspection and rating but we finally did it.  We had many hesitations about becoming an AAA rated property not the least of which was a requirement to add two double dead bolts on our guest room doors.  For those of you who know us, we don't like to conform!

However, we realized that many travelers look to the coveted diamond rating to help discern the best properties to stay at and we were doing those travelers a disservice.

The result is in... and seemingly without hesitation the inspector said we will be awarded with 4 diamonds as soon as we have the locks installed on our doors!  While I can't say we were surprised nor those of you who have stayed here before, we are very happy.

UPDATE:  8/21/10 -  "We have purchased locks!  We found some beautiful solid brass locks that will even compliment the beautiful guest room doors of the esate.  Now all we have to do is install them."

It's in the details...
Sun, Aug 22nd, 2010 6:07:00 pm

This is something that our guests say really sets Blair Hill Inn apart.  See for yourself.  It makes a difference.

...something unexpected like a sprig of blackberries in the bouquets that adorn  our dining room tables this week.

Little touches right down to the details of our guest 1/2 baths for the restaurant are not overlooked.

An antique framed charcoal painting was the inspiration for our handsome cocktail lounge.  The rich toned paneling is in contrast with a modern lamp and then accented with a fresh bouquet of apple branches and late summer greenery!

Beans!
Tue, Aug 17th, 2010 1:28:00 pm

We hope not to bore you with more photos of produce from our gardens but everything comes in looking so wonderful I can't help but snap a photo (and a bean) and post it.  We want you to know that Blair Hill Inn is authentic in everyway.  I'm sure there will be beans on our menu this weekend.

The gardens are bursting at Blair Hill Inn!
Mon, Aug 16th, 2010 5:25:00 pm

Dan just picked these summer squash, zucchini and patty pan squash from our gardens today.  The chef's rendition of 'Three-Squash' & Buttermilk soup for dinner was simply delicious.  At breakfast the fresh zucchini and basil frittata with caramelized onion and feta couldn't have been better on a slightly rainy morning.  And, the black berry bushes are dripping with berries.  A late summertime favorite of mine is blackberries and cream.

Come to Blair Hill Inn and enjoy these treats for yourself in our delightful cafe porch.  It's the perfect space; pristine & lovely with lakeviews galore.

Summer's bounty makes its way into dessert!
Wed, Aug 4th, 2010 2:53:00 pm

Raspberries have been in full season and guests have enjoyed 'picking & popping' them from the many berry bushes on our hillside.  Our chef likes to include them in his menu as well.  This Mixed Berry Napolean served atop a Citrus Pool delighted our dining guests this past weekend!  The blackberries will be ripe any day now so stay with us and pick until your heart's content.

The Jonathan Edward's concert was a smashing success
Sun, Jul 18th, 2010 1:36:00 pm

This is the backdrop that concert goers enjoyed last Sunday evening at the Jonathan Edward's concert.  Jonathan drew a 'sell-out' crowd that night.  His music was simply beautiful and paired with such a breathtaking sunset, a glass of wine in hand and wonderful company - it was a night to remember.

Jonathan is seen here performing 'Sunshine Go Away Today' with a starburst quilt behind him in our carriage barn.  The quilt was a going away gift from dear friends of ours who collect quilts and gave us this prize before we moved here 13 and 1/2 years ago!

The dining season is on!

Our most recent honeymoon couple enjoyed their 'dinner with a view'.  Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Swing.

Wow! The July/August issue of Victoria Magazine is incredible.
Fri, Jun 25th, 2010 7:15:00 pm

When you work so very hard to make something as beautiful and exceptional as you possibly can - to be featured in such a way as we are this summer in Victoria Magazine is thrilling!  Here is just a bit of what is said,

"Blair Hill Inn rises majestically on the crest of an endless lawn, as the last of the day's light shimmers far below on Moosehead Lake.  Welcoming and noble, the historical home-turned-inn beckons at the end of a long drive.  Once a thriving gentleman's farm, Blair Hill Inn remains a refined and polished haven."  Victoria Magazine, July- August, 2010.

Dining at Blair Hill opens the weekend of June 18th
Fri, Jun 11th, 2010 1:16:00 pm

Open for its 12th restaurant season overlooking Moosehead Lake, Blair Hill Inn is inspired to once again create a dining experience not soon to be forgotten.  Coming home to the inn after a leave of absence is Chef Jack Neal who lead the inn's culinary program to its successful status for many, many years.  Capitalizing on Maine's bounty from the inn's gardens and surrounding farms, you can always count upon Maine summertime classics with a fresh, light twist.   Think chilled garden pea & Maine crab soup blending freshly snipped sweet peas with a handful of sparkly mint and topped with cumin spiced crab meat.   How about homemade lavender ice cream or consider a fresh basil Mojito!  Add in the beautiful, airy decor of the dining room and cafe porch with lake views that dazzle and it can't be beat!  It's fun, its festive, its classy and welcoming.

Blair Hill Inn featured in color photo spread of Victoria Magazine!
Sat, May 15th, 2010 10:44:00 am

Check out the current issue of Victoria magazine, a national publication which features elegant home design, decor and sundries.  Blair Hill Inn is featured in a multi-page feature editiorial with color photos!  We haven't even seen it yet, but we just heard that it is out.  The writer stayed here last summer as part of a tour of special places in Maine.  In discussion with her just a few weeks ago, she said "I travel and stay at inns all over the coutry in search of those places that would excite and thrill our readers.  I am, truthfully, usually dissapointed in some aspect of my stay but not at Blair Hill Inn.  You have achieved something indescribable that supercedes every other place one could stay!"  Such conviction in her endorsement was wonderful to hear and it inspires us to continue to attain such accolades.

Press Release from Select Registry highlights Blair Hill Inn
Fri, Apr 23rd, 2010 12:41:00 am

Select Registry.

'Inn-provements'
Fri, Apr 23rd, 2010 11:12:00 am

One thing that is hard for us to portray in a website is the extensive restoration we undertake each off-season in an effort to make Blair Hill Inn beyond elegant!  This spring, we decided to restore Guest Room 8.  For us, that means  gut the room and start over!  We are vaulting the ceiling up into the attic, opening the front roofline and  builiding a beautiful dormer in keeping with the architecture of the inn, putting in all new windows, and so much more!  Here is a peek at some of our progress so far.  It will be done before the summer season starts.

Blair Hill Inn at dusk...
Mon, Mar 22nd, 2010 8:10:00 pm

In February we hosted a beautiful winter wedding.  The wedding photographer, Michelle Stapleton, shot this photo of the inn while guests were enjoying the winter evening reception.

Magnificent March
Fri, Mar 12th, 2010 5:24:00 pm

The days are longer, the sun is warmer and the snow is deeper.  What a  magnificent combination!  Our Golden Retriever, Bell, loves to hike Blair Hill with guests but pauses to seemingly remember her dear, departed Olive who used to frolick alongside her.

'Moosemania'
Fri, Mar 12th, 2010 2:10:00 pm

June is the #1 moose spotting month of the year at Moosehead Lake!  Stay with us in June and ask about our special pricing to celebrate this right of springtime!  Take a privately guided moose safari with a Maine Registered Guide.   You will be picked up right here at the inn, transported to the water, and provided with a 3-hour scenic canoe trip during which you can be guaranteed to see moose!  We provide snacks and binoculars and nature provides everything else!

Blair Hill Gardens are bursting!
Sat, Aug 1st, 2009 3:00:00 pm

Guests are enjoying the bounty of produce that is picked from our gardens each day.  The array of produce includes:  heirloom tomatoes, rainbow swiss Chard, lettuces, patty pan and yellow squashes, zucchini, hierloom beets, purple and orange carrots, beans, rosemary, thyme, parsley, dill, lavender, mint, cilantro and chives!   Also, our blueberries and raspberries are ripe for picking and soon our blackberries will be too.  The apples are small and green on their branches right now but they are a sign that fall is on its way!  A walk around our grounds can be a culinary treat this time of year!

Finally, we've taken photos of our brand new cocktail lounge!
Wed, Jul 29th, 2009 1:14:00 pm

The new bar and cocktail lounge has exceeded our expectations.  Dan, Larry (our intrepid carpenter) and I worked since the end of last summer right up until the 1st of July to ready this room for both our guests and dinner guests to enjoy.  The view is over-the-top and the classic, 'Manhattan' feel to the room is wowing everyone.  We hope you can join us for a toast in this great addition to our inn and restaurant!

Commercial filmed at Blair Hill Inn
Sat, Jul 25th, 2009 2:42:00 pm

The State of Maine's Tourism Department selected Blair Hill Inn as a featured location in a new commercial being filmed to promote travel to Maine.  On Monday, August 17th over a dozen people including the producer, the creative director, film crew, and even models descended on our hillside.  They set up a track that looked like a train track up our driveway which then automatically moved the big movie camera up our hill!  Film was taken of the inn's exterior, the magnificent views for which we have become famous, and the broad porch of the inn.  The commercial will air next year in all of the New England States.

Blair Hill Inn is named a 'Best Destination Restaurant'

"While every morsel they serve is delicious, right down to the homemade sorbet at meal's end, the true dessert is the view.  Overlooking Moosehead Lake, the inn has views stretching from Mt. Washington to Canada, and the sunsets have been known to inspire standing ovations."  Bangor Metro Business & Lifestyle magazine, August 2009.  Recently we had guests who own a home in New Hampshire which has a direct view of Mt. Washington.  While pouring fresh glasses of iced tea to guests relaxing on our porch, I overheard them pointing out the distinctive ridgeline of Mt. Washington to another couple from California.  They explained, "There, right behind Sugarloaf!".  It was great to have guests recognizing the various peaks in the distance!

Summer 2009, Blair Hill Inn is recognized as one of Maine's most successful businesses
Fri, Jul 10th, 2009 11:41:00 am

This honor came as a real surprise to us.  We have been recognized in many different travel publications as possibly the best lodging establishment in Maine but 'Maine Biz', the business magazine of Maine, issued a special publication  identifying 13, out of over 500 businesses, as the most successful businesses in Maine across all industries.  Along with companies such as FairPoint Communications, Cross Insurance and Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare, Blair Hill Inn was selected for our story of entrepreneurship, ingenuity and business success.  Wow!  We just do what comes natural to us and we have fun with it.  We are happy that seems to be working!

Jonathan Edwards performs for an appreciative audience!
Thu, Jul 9th, 2009 8:25:00 am

Our July 5th concert with Jonathan Edwards and his band was wonderful.  We had a 'sold-out' crowd in our old carriage barn that evening and the energy was exciting.  When Jonathan announced to the audience "I'll be back every summer Greenville!", everyone was on their feet.  We love getting to be a part of something bigger than ourselves and our concert series is definately one of those opportunities!

Introducing our 'swanky' new cocktail lounge!
Thu, Jun 11th, 2009 9:29:00 am

We are so excited to introduce you to our 'swanky' new cocktail lounge!  The decor is a stunning blend of traditional and trendy making this space the coolest place in town!  Last fall we began the process of restoring the southern end of the inn and, as part of that project, have created a gorgeous new space for our guests to enjoy.

The dark maple paneled room with 15 huge windows that  present Moosehead Lake and all it's beauty at every glance is sumptuous!  The handsome bar is yours to enjoy a martini or glass of fine wine.  You may want relax on the supple dark leather couch in front of the fireplace and take in a show on the large screen, hd plasma 1080 TV!  Or, sit at one of the cocktail tables in comfortable club chairs for a game of chess or cards.   No matter what, you will  find your self drawn through the summer screened door to the front veranda to feel lake breezes and watch the sun set!

We thought you might enjoy seeing the process beginning with the new roof line last fall!  Photos of the completed room soon!
